When travelling with a companion, before you leave talk explicitly about having 'alone time', and what you want to do between ballgames, how much you want to spend eating out versus microwaving food in the hotel, whether you want to drive quickly or stop to see sights on the way, what time you want to get up/go to sleep. All that. The clearer your mutual expectations the more enjoyable the trip.
